Award winning ending for Hollywood themed Summer Ball

Over 185 professionals from Nottingham’s illustrious business community were entertained at the Nottingham Professional Services (NPS) “Hollywood themed” Summer Ball, held at Alea Casino.

Held on Thursday 4thJuly, American Independence Day, this was an opportunity for Nottingham’s professional community to let their hair down and enjoy a party with likeminded people, many of whom came dressed as their favourite Hollywood character.

Guests were greeted by a prosecco reception in the casino’s Bar Esquina, before being invited upstairs, entering via the red carpet for a 3-course meal and the evening’s festivities by NPS event organiser Craig Straw (Innes England) and compere for the evening, Ken Feast (Natwest).

The Hollywood theme was on show throughout the night, with an award being nominated for the best dressed male and female.

The entertainment for the evening was provided in the form of a horse raising game where contestants had to ride their horse to victory, by performing a galloping motion to move a simulated horse. The faster the gallop, the faster the contestants horse travelled along the course to the finishing post.

Each table competed against each other in a knockout style format, in a bid to be crowned Hollywood Derby Champions 2019. With sweat dripping from each of the contestants, it was team Carter Legrand Wealth Strategies and team Innes England that stood out above the rest and made it to the final.

In the end though it was Bradley Legrand and Mike Hayes from team Carter Legrand Wealth Strategies who prevailed and walked away with the prizes.

An important aspect of the evening was to also raise money for the charity Big C Little C, a business group devoted to raising funds for Cancer Research UK and NSPCC.

Colin Shaw attended the event as joint chair of the charity and gave an emotional speech addressing the audience to make a greater commitment to helping the charities raise valuable funds to help them continue their invaluable work.

A total of £820.95 was raised on the night by a traditional game of heads and tails.

Commenting on the evening, NPS Chair, Kate Hennig added “What a fantastic night. The Summer Ball is always our flagship event and it was great to see so many different professionals from a wide variety of businesses located here in Nottingham present. Our committee works very hard to ensure that events like this are successfully run and in particular my special thanks must go to Craig Straw and his team for their hard work in organising such a fabulous event.”

Our next event is an NPS Futures T20 cricket social on Friday 2ndAugust 2019.  For more information please visit our events page on the website.
